A Colonial Smorgasbord
One look at the news over the past year would make one painfully aware of how immigration from foreign countries { Particularly Central America} remains a highly controversial issue.
The irony of this is that America itself from its earliest days is a country built on immigration: {people purposely migrating to a Land/region for a specified purpose.
The colonies established in north and South America were the product of European migrants {England, France, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands} who purposely traveled to these “new” continents.
The result was a colonial smorgasbord of different European settlers/migrants coming together to organize a new world.
Throw in the Native American population and later millions of African slaves and one can appreciate the social chaos that was the origin of this nation {America}.
