LanLan was still asleep. The powder bag and the gun lay on the edge of the hole, and Ying felt comforted.
She was too tired to think of anything even though she knew they were not out of danger.There was no point in thinking, she knew that.
They had no food and thinking about it wouldn't summon it up. The same went for water. Too much thinking Just made for worries, and worries took away their faith.
One step at a time, she thought, one step at a time.
If they got out alive, then fine. If they didn't, then that was that. They were simply no match for the sun or for a hostile fate.
But they would do what they had to do, and they would keep their dignity .
Except when they got Lan Lan out of the sand, she was not one for crying nowadays.
There had been a time when she burst into tears at the slightest provocation.
She had made progress.she knew crying didn't change anything, life was life.
Life was pressing on towards an oasis, life was looking your existence straight in the eye.
There was nothing for it, if you refused to grow up, life would do what it wanted and there was nothing you could do about it.(Page 180-181)

真的。她想，生活是不相信眼泪的。生活就是生活。生活是逼向绿洲的沙丘，是淹没天真的洪水，是你不得不正视的存在。没办法
