“When you can bear your own silence, you are free” — Mooji
Throughout the ages, all of the greats have said quietening the mind is key to creating space for the mystical to enter.
To contemplate the mystery we must slow down, listen, and allow the unknown to present itself. After all, we’re contemplating things we don’t know yet (and may never know) so there must be an element of humility and surrender.
The not knowing is a part of the contemplation process. Paradoxically, it’s a big part of the comprehension process too.
Here are some of my favourite quotes on creating a quiet space within:
“When you learn to be silent, you will be home wherever you go” — Osho
“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” — Ram Dass
“When the lips are silent, the heart has a hundred tongues” — Rumi
“Be quiet, the secret cannot be spoken, it is wrapped in silence.” — Rumi
“But I’ll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you’ll come to understand that you’re connected with everything.” — Alan Watts
