Twelfth night

The 5th one in Jiahe’s 2021.

To be honest, I should have been read this story a few days ago, but due to a lot of boring work issues until last day I finished it. And I love this story, a masterpiece full of warm, kind, humor and love. And the most important is it comes from Shakespeare’s pen.

Now, let’s get started.

Viola and Sebastian are twins, they traveled on the sea. It should have been a great journey, but they were drowned into the sea by the cruel and fierce wind. Fortunately, they were rescued by different people in different shore. However they thought their brother or sister died in the  terrible accident.

Viola is a beautiful woman and musician, she excels at playing and singing. Thanks to Duke of Illyria’s hobby to singing, Viola get a job in Duke’s court. In order to make things convenient, she had to pretend as a man to live in Illyria. Thus she named herself as Cesario.

Duke of Illyria, Orsino, was very fond of Olivia who is a rich countess. He had been proposed her for many times, but failed. Recently Olivia’s father and brother died , she announced that she would mourn for her father and brother, and wouldn’t marry in six years.

That announcement is a kind of refuse to Duke’s requirement. Olivia tried to reject Duke by a gentle way. However, Orsino couldn’t accept this. So he sent his favorite singer Cesario to persuade Olivia.

Minds always change. Especially when they encounter love. When Cesario arrived Olivia’s house, he attracted all her attention, and she desperately fall in love with Cesario, despite Cesario said he would never love a woman. Because Cesario found she started to love her master - Duke of Illyria Orsino. Please don’t confused by he and she, cause Cesario is Viola.

Viola was sent to Olivia’s house for many times. Even tough she suggested Orsino to give up, Orsino wanted to persuade Olivia by himself.

Meanwhile, Sebastian reached Illyria with his companion - Antonio, a sea captain, and he rubbed many fortune from Illyria. Antonia treated Sebastian as a true friend, then he accompanied him to the Illyria city even though it’s a extreme dangerous place to him. Because the Illyria’s police declared to arrest him, no matter where he will go.

One day, Antonia found Sebastian trapped in a fight. He tried to save him, but he was arrested by the police. Antonia begged Sebastian to rescue him. But Sebastian said he didn’t know him. You can’t blame the Sebastian because he is Viola.

On the other scene , the true Sebastian was brought to meet Olivia by accident, and he fall in love with Olivia at his first sight. The day after first day they met, they married in a church, and the priest made the ceremony for them.

Therefore, when the next day coming, Orsino took Cesario to the house of Olivia, and Cesario tried to persuade her to marry Orsino, they found there were two person with the same face. They feel confused but Viola and Sebastian recognized each other. They hugged and teared for their lost love and regained love.

The rest of the group were happy for them. And also at that time, Duke found his love to Viola. Then they decided to organize two wedding ceremony for the two couple.

That’s a funny story, even though there were many hilarious person acting in this play, and they created many hilarious jokes, it’s still a good play. In this play, all the unexpected things happened ,and every role got his happy ending.

I love comedy and i love happy ending.
