第86期 April Fools Day 1900 07/03
As a speaker, I have only but always get two complaints from my audiences. One, that I talked so loud that they can't fall asleep. And two, that I talk so long that they can't stay awake. And you know what, let me just say that we both have something in common. You don't know what I am going to do about it, and neither do I. All right, stop my uncontrollable naughtiness, let's get directly into the business.
Yo, sup guys, after I have done a boring and irritating introductory paragraph, I will introduce you guys to a festival which I personally really like - April Fool’s Day. The main reason why I chose this celebration as the topic for my presentation today is that April Fool’s Day is the only day in the whole year that you can make funny jokes to friends and teachers without getting a “big whack”. For example, you can stick the “Kick me” sticker on someone’s back, by harmless means.
""The time passed slower and slower as our heart became heavier and heavier. When all the patients were gone, and the anxieties took over, we unbearably hastened into the toilet, saw the scene of a nightmare - The corner of the fifth compartment was gone, substituted by a narrow tunnel which Herman could perfectly fit in, but for him only. We tried to find any evidence around the hole, but the darkness from the depth of the tunnel engulfed us like butterflies on the web, struggling hard but still useless. We have never failed so badly, never felt so hopeless and never been so angry before. He is remarkably smart, smart enough to be scary. I have to admit that we have lost completely this time, even Ethan started to question the chance about bringing that man into the jail. We commanded five FBI Agents to track the origin of that tunnel; then walked out of the cafe on to the street with sadnesses and anger written on the face; frustration and disappointment in the same breath." That was the reaction of my friend last year.
April Fool’s Day is the day in which everyone makes harmless practical jokes to others. It could be their friend, teachers or anyone you want. (or you really want to make jokes with). When I say everyone, I meant not only us but these Social Media and even the Queen, would send our wrong news to make jokes about the civilians. For example in 2017 the 1st of April, the famous apps called Algodoo, which is a programmed physics simulator, sent out an announcement that says:” From now on this app is no longer free. You can click the link underneath for payment.” The funny thing is, when the customers actually click on the link, a website from Wikipedia showed off and says:” Do you know what day it is?”
Another funny incident is that a Dutch social media sent out a piece of news that says "Italy's famous Leaning Tower of Pisa has collapsed." And another Dutch media has reported that in order to force users to purchase a TV license, the Dutch government has now developed an instrument that the police can walk on the street with. The unlicensed TVs will be immediately detected and the only way to avoid inspections was to wrap the TV with aluminum foil. A few hours after the news sent out, the local shops' aluminum foil was snapped up. It is so funny, isn't it!
Finally, let’s sum up, shall we? April Fool’s Day is a celebration that you can really do something “BIG.” It is truly beneficial to make funny jokes to your friends and teachers but remember, safety’s priority is always above all.
