An ape

During ice age, the earth turned extremely cold. The climate changed. The forest withered and there were no green leaves, insect or fruit on the trees. Some monkeys could no longer live on treetops. They had to walk on the ground on all fours, looking for food or grass. It turned colder and colder. Icebergs formed on the mountains. Snow chunks glided along mountain paths. Some animals dodged in the caves for warmth and shelter.

Several decades later, some apes emerged. They walked upright, freeing both hands from the ground. Their brain capacities developed. And they stroded on wide praires. Holding a wood club, the ape looked for food. Sometimes, he hunted a large deer and carried it back to its cave. 

At first, the ape ate raw meat. One day, it stormed, and it rained heavily. A thunderbolt flashed in the sky, igniting tree trunks or twigs in the woods. The wood caught fire and began to flame. Some flesh was smoked. The roasted pork smelt delicious. 

The ape picked the roasted pork and ate it up. It tasted delicious and it felt comfortable inside.

The ape took the igniting twig back to its cave. He made a fire. He collected firewood, twigs and branches. And the fire was blazing in the cave, bringing him warmth and cooked food.

The ape hunted boars, deer or bulls. And they cooperated to hunt a mammoth. They knocked the large bone open with sharp flakes of stones and ate the marrow inside. At nightfall, they would sit round the fire and share the flesh of the beast.

The ape made many stone tools, in order to protect himself and hunt for meat. He polished flakes of stones and the stone flakes turned sharp. He could cut meat with stone flakes. 

The ape had long, strong arms and short legs. He ofen grinned. He had glittering eyes. He often strode for long distances, exercising his legs. When he tasted salt from a rock, he added salt to his food.

In his spare time, he sketched a deer on the wall of the cave with some red pigment. And he blew a bone flute. Sometimes, he played with clay.
