Chinese New Year

February 5, 2019 is Chinese New Year, the year of the pig is coming. In the China you can see anywhere,this year is the cute pig for the 2019 symbol.The most arresting feature is the painted pig decoration anywhere we can see, also many different style pigs like red paper cut pigs. In the China everywhere can see pig for the decoration in the people’s life. The Chinese zodiac, or Sheng Xiao, is composed of 12 animals, each of which symbolizes lunar year. Unlike the Western zodiac, it’s based on a 12-years cycle. Chinese New Year is from the generation to generation already with Chinese people for three or four thousand years.  In fact Chinese New Year is very important for the Chinese people.It look like the mind and body form an indivisible whole. Also In the holiday people like to wear red, because red is traditional color for the holiday decoration for many years, such as red paper - cuts are popular in countryside throughout in China holiday, it to wish life more and more well, At this time, May all friends wishes come true! Wish all the family happiness and health! Then many colorful lights and red lanterns, much is booming. The special red color in fact is more than a color: it's the symbol to signifier of our culture. 

 As we know Chinese New Year each year have an animal for the symbol, it is 12 animals for 12 years circular around, and the cycle then repeats itself. In addition Sheng Xiao means 12 animals for symbol. Sheng in Chinese word is birth and Xiao some as resemblance. For better understand of Chinese Sheng Xiao, I need talk about chronological years by history, such as Chinese lunar calendar from the Xia Dynasty already useful for people’s live for 3000 years ago. Our Chinese ancestors knew more than we do about the heavens and man. People’s life all with the nature world, that’s why 12 animals were used to match the 12 years. Like this year is the pig, if the children are born in this year will be pigs, for this reason may be the children’s behavior relate to pig, the cyclic processes of nature.  12 animals being symbols in China history for long long time, the 12 animals has signifier, signified, and meaning, each animals that is denotation and connotation of the years.
