“La La Land”, a musical about star-crossed lovers trying to make it in Hollywood, was nominated for 14 Academy Awards, including best picture; earlier this month it won a record number of awards at the Golden Globes. Amazon’s “Manchester By The Sea” was nominated for six Oscars, a first for an online distributor. And the nominees include six black actors, the most ever.
