Farmer and Snake
Once upon a time,in a winter morning,a farmer was on his way to work ,down the path along the lake ,the tender-hearted farmer saw a poor ,half-hearted,freezen snake.
It’s pretty colored skin had been all frosted by the dew.
Poor thing,he cried,”I will take you in and I will take care of you.”
“Take me in,tender man.
Take me in,for heaven’s sake.
Take me in,oh,tender man.”
Signed the vicious snake.
He wrapped it up all cosy in a comforter of silk, and laid in by his fireside, with some honey and some milk.
He hurried home from work that night , and soon as he arrived,he found that pretty snake he had taken in had been revived.
“Take me in,tender man.
Take me in,for heaven’s sake.
Take me in,oh,tender man.”
Signed the vicious snake.
He clutched it and put it in front of his breast.”You are so beautiful,”he cried.
“But if I hadn’t brought you in by now, surely you would have died.”
He stroked its pretty skin again and kiss and held it tight.
But instead of saying thank you , that snake gave him a vicious bite.
“Take me in,tender man.
Take me in,for heaven’s sake.
Take me in,oh,tender man.”
Signed the vicious snake.
“I have saved you, cried the farmer, and you have bitten me ,heavens why?
You know your bite was poisonous and now I am going to die.”
“Oh,shut up,silly man, said the reptile with a grin. You knew damn well I am a snake before you took me in.”
