Sonnet 31: Why do I love you

Why do I love you? Let me reasons count.

What brings my life all torment and delight?

I found no senses for this craze account:

Not taste, nor touch, nor smell, nor hearing, sight.

My tongue has not yet touched your ruby lips.

My palms have not yet sensed your milky skin.

My nose has not yet heard your fragrance drips.

My ears have not yet ‘cquiant'd with your voice’s sheen.

My eyes on your ambrosial look did feast.

Yet its insat'ble taste needs constant feed.

By mem’ry old such hunger's shortly ceased,

I dare not this addiction love concede.

Illume the cause upon this mind obtuse!

Need you my fervor blind or more, my Muse?
