Some people are apt to think of their own way of life as the normal one and to look down on life-styles that differ from it.

有些人倾向于认为自己的生活方式才是正常的，因而瞧不起于此不同的生活方式。

1、apt [adj.] 有倾向的

be apt to 倾向于做某事

be apt for  恰当的

2、look down on/upon 轻视，蔑视

look up to 尊敬、仰慕

对他人的不信任，更不必说憎恨，是人类痛苦的根源。
