Mr. Rod Garcia

Dear Mr. Garcia,
I am writing to apply for the MBA program in the fall of 2018. As a cradle of top engineers and leaders, MIT always is my dream school.
I started programming in 15. In whole college life, I devoted all of my time to coding and practice. However, I was afraid of communicating with others because of my high psychological threshold. Even when I took a taxi, I needed to spend several minutes preparing my words if I wanted to get off. Therefore, I was so happy to interaction with others by hiding behind the social networks.
Based on development and analysis of several failed products, the Psychological Age Test gained explosive growth in RenRen (the Chinese Facebook), attracting over 1 million users in 3 days and becoming a development case of RenRen's open platform. With the dream of using technology to lower the social threshold, I took the first step that was to send a BP to investment institution. Due to my fear of communication, I researched tens of investment institutions in Internet, picked out one, and then deeply analyzed it. In order to introduce myself and my project clearly, I combed the meaning of the project, carried out SWOT analysis, and studied the possible future directions. As a result, after first call, I received the investment intention. After first meet, I signed the investment contract and then got money.
In the past years, the aspirations of lowering social threshold drove me breaking through myself, so that I could employ new talents after all staff resigned, to create new project to achieve rapid growth even when everyone was disappointed in us, and to raise money for running company in financial difficulties.
I made a lot of products for millions of users, but each of them had a cliff fall in the end. Gradually, I found that I lacked vision and ambition -- because I always was reluctant to socialize, the world in my heart is very simple. Therefore, I hardly believe my product would become a great future. I became the bottleneck of my company, and my vision let me sit in a small box so that my ability was discounted.
Now, I was so desire to communicate with diverse people to get out of pure technical thinking and finally make some great things for the world. And I am certain that my experience for making a startup company will add value to my future classmates.
Thank you very much for considering me for the program. A meeting to discuss with you further my acumen and aspirations would be appreciated.
I look forward to your favorable reply.
Sincerely,
Xilei Li
