On many an idle day have I grieved over lost time.

在许多闲散的日子

我哀叹虚度的光阴

But it is never lost, my lord.

Thou hast taken every moment of my life in thine own hands.

但它从未消逝

我的主

我生命的每时每刻

都在你的掌握之中

Hidden in the heart of things

thou art nourishing seeds into sprouts, buds into blossoms,

and ripening flowers into fruitfulness.

你潜藏在万物心中

滋养种子发芽

让蓓蕾成簇

催繁花盛开

结出累累硕果

I was tired and sleeping on my idle bed

and imagined all work had ceased.

In the morning I woke up

and found my garden

full with wonders of flowers.

我疲倦困乏

在闲榻上沉沉睡去

以为所有劳作都已停歇

清晨醒来

却发现我的花园

已开遍异蕊奇花……
