Write about any two schools and how they are similar or  different. It could be two schools in your country or two schools in  different countries. You could also compare a school with one of the schools  described in this lesson. Use some of the contrast words you learned in this  unit.

You did a great job using the plural form fairly easily, I  liked it when you said, "Republic of China, and both experienced the  same ups and downs, enjoyed glories and suffered adversities along with the  tattering development of communist China." Please work on your word  choice. We do not say, "The different locations are not just  geographically, but also culturally, politically and socially" rather  say, "The different locations are not just geographic, but also  cultural, political and social."

When talking about the prestigious Chinese law schools,  nobody could ignore these two: China University of PoliticalScience & Law  (CUPL), and Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SUPL). They  are both public prestigious law schools of modern China. Both of them were  set up by the central government after the establishment of the People's  Republic of China, and both experienced the same ups and downs, enjoyed glories  and suffered adversities along with the tattering development of communist  China. Both of them have hundreds ofthousandsgraduates who were/are working in  government and have becomeaninfluential official group. However, there are many differences between them.  CUPL is located in Beijing, the first direct-controlled municipality and  capital of China, while SUPL is situated in Chongqing, the fourth  direct-controlled municipality, southwest of China. The different locations  are not just geographical, but also cultural, political and social. CUPL is  now under the administration of The Ministry of Education of P.R. China,  whereas, SUPL belongs to the local government of Chongqing municipality. The  advantageous administrative relationship helps CUPL enjoy more resources and  advances. Since the 1999 reforms, CUPL has become more famous and  prestigious; in contrast, SUPL is struggling to maintain its reputation and  charisma. As I see it, the widening gap of differentiation between them is  mainly caused by their different attitudes toward their ideal and practical  goals. CUPL cherishes its ideals and has become prominent in public affairs  in China, as its teachers practice what they preach. For an instance, members  of the faculty and student body played an active role in the Tiananmen Square  protests of 1989 demanding democracy and rule of law.
