Fuchuo Shan

Fuchuo mountain, sitting on the east edge of Hefei, is a good hiking place if you’re a nature-enjoying person,  but have only one spare day on hand. Its highest peak goes only 418 meters high and a range of five kilometers long runs from north to south.

Fuchuo means a floating wooden raft in buddhism world. Tale says that this mountain used to be a wooden raft , ferrying the pious buddhists from the misery living world to the perfect heaven, that journey did only once a year In lunar august.

Another story about the origin of this name is the mountain looks from afar very like a green little raft drifting on a white sea when there’s rolling clouds covering the  mountain side.

Although the tale goes so beautiful , few people know about this place. It somehow lives in the shadows of its neighbors , like its south neighbor, Jiuhua shan, which ranks one of the most famous Four-Buddhism -Mountain in China. And its another neighbor, Huang shan, whose stunning scenery beats almost all mountains in the world.

But if you seek a place of solitude and want to wear yourself out a bit, Fuchuo is a right choice.
