What is New Year's Day？
新年是什么？
New Year's Day is the first day of the year on the calendar.
新年是日历上标示的一年的第一天。
It is also called Yuan Dan in Chinese.
在中文里，我们也称这一天为元旦。
Yuan means beginning, and Dan means day.
元是开始的意思，旦是天的意思。
So we can also tell it from its Chinese name that this day is the first day of a year.
因此从中文的名称里我们也能知道，这指的是一年的第一天。
Now you know that New Year's Day represents a fresh start of a year.
现在你知道了，新年代表着新一年的全新开始。
Isn't it a day worth celebrating?
