Mathematics in Context 情境中的数学
学习和使用英语的环境分为家庭环境、学校环境和社会环境，对学生来说，无论在国内还是在国外，学校环境占绝大部分，并且影响颇深。目前的教材基本上以家庭环境和社会环境，忽视学科语言和学科学习。通过学科学习英语，既是双语教学，也是学习英语的大语境，更是文化的集中体现。强烈推荐通过数学学习英语，思维是艺术的体操，数学是思维的灵魂。可能开始有点难，不习惯，但是坚持下来你会发现这是学习语言的必须和捷径。数学语言精练，易于切入理科学习，而且数学与思维很大程度上决定人的发展前途。通过数学学习英语既可以创造更加真实的语言环境，领略国外数学的魅力，又可以学以致用，激发对英语的学习兴趣。
《情境中的数学》是一套难度比较高的冷门教材，一共有三十四本。这套教材不是按照年级分类，而是按照主题分类。内容我个人非常喜欢。强烈推荐！
每一本有一个主题，在给定的各种情景中，引入这个主题相关的数学概念。看到这句介绍，有没有一种棒呆的感觉。
上面一个主题关于Fraction。引入了大量的Survey，加以饼图来解释。孩子们可以直观的了解到运用这个数学概念的场景。对于Fraction的理解不再局限在分披萨，层次提高了很多。这套书同时还引入了Math History，知其然还要知其所以然，特别好！
说到了历史，在Fact and Factor这本书中，从古埃及的数学开始讲起。我们的数字是如何演变的，古埃及人如何计算巨大的数字。这要书的一个亮点就是通识。
在学习Factor的过程中，还引入了像素的概念。像素是个数学概念吗？应该不算，但是在学习Factor的过程中，孩子们自然而然的学习了这个概念。这就是我上面说的通识。
而在比较数量这本书中，从远古时间的物品等量交换开始引入，在钱币产生之前，贸易如何进行。再到后面我们如何买卖东西。
购买同一样东西几个如何翻倍，购买不同的东西价格如何叠加等等。
这套书咋看像说应用题，但他的内容远远超过我们一般所说的应用题范围。它的核心是真正的在各种生活或者学术场景中，引入数学的概念，而切入的角度往往是我们没有想到或没有见过的。并不是生掰硬编的那种应用题。什么是高级的教材，我觉得Math in Context就是！
这是一套难度很高适合小学中高年级学生的，非常棒的一套数学教材。
