Teachers are still the authority. ---- meet expectations

        1. criticizing the students 

        2. the teacher's persona should be close, but not too close, to your real personality

        3. what to wear - may establish your teaching persona, e.g. wear a tie

        4. have a little distance, but not too much

        5. take age, gender, national origin, etc. into consideration

A teacher's persona should be consistent.

Get to know the students intellectually!!!!

        1. tests, questions

        2. notice the students who are struggling

        3. Knowing the students intellectually is much more important than getting to know the students socially!!!

        You are not there to make friends, but being friendly is nice.

        4. Inequality is necessary and nice.

        5. be judicious about your personal info. what to tell and what not to tell.

Make friends with the students?

        1. professional misconduct!

        2. but mentoring is rewarding

        3. remember the differences but not the similarities btw you and the students.

The emotions should be focused on the work!

        1. be enthusiastic about the coursework

        2. You don't have to be too dramatic on the stage, but there's an emotion from the contents you're talking about. (The class is fun not because you look funny, but because the contents are fun.)

        3. interesting but not distracting [humor balances with seriousness.]
