“Four legs good，two legs better！Four legs good，two legs better！Four legs good，two legs better！”

“四条腿好，两条腿更好!”四条腿好，两条腿更好!四条腿好，两条腿更好!”

It went on for five minutes without stopping.  And by the time the sheep had quieted down，the chance to utter【v. 说出；发出，表达；发射；使用伪钞】 any protest had passed，for the pigs had marched back into the farmhouse.

它持续了五分钟，没有停下来。等到羊安静下来的时候，提出抗议的机会已经错过了，因为猪已经行军回庄主院去了。

Benjamin felt a nose nuzzlling【vt. 用鼻紧挨，用鼻爱抚；紧贴某人】 at his shoulder.  He looked round.  It was Clover. Her old eyes looked dimmer than ever. Without saying anything，she tugged【v. （用力地）拉，拖；（迅速地）穿衣服；较量；用拖船拖；竞争；努力做】 gently at his mane and led him round to the end of the big barn，where the Seven Commandments were written. A minute or two they stood gazing at the tarred【adj. 涂了焦油的】 wall with its white lettering.

本杰明觉得有一只鼻子在蹭他的肩膀。他向四周看了看。这是克拉弗。她那苍老的眼睛看上去比以前更加暗淡了。她什么也没说，轻轻地拽着他的鬃毛，领着他走到写着“七诫”的大谷仓尽头。他们站了一两分钟，盯着那堵涂了柏油、写着白字的墙。

“My sight is failing，”She said finally. “Even when I was young I could not have read what was written there. But it appears to me that that wall looks different. Are the Seven Commandments the same as they used to be， Benjamin?”

“我的视力越来越差了，”她最后说。“即使在我年轻的时候，我也看不懂上面写的东西。但在我看来，那堵墙看起来不一样。‘七诫’还跟以前一样吗，本杰明?”

For once Benjamin consented【v. 同意，准许；（古）赞成（意见、看法等）】 to break his rule，and he read out to her what was written on the wall.  There was nothing there now except a single Commandment. It ran：

这一次，本杰明同意破例，他把墙上写的东西念给她听。现在那里什么也没有，只有一条戒律。它是:

ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL

BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS
