Lesson 50 Taken for a ride 乘车兜风
I love travelling in the country, but I don't like losing my way. I went on an excursion recently, but my trip took me longer than I expected. ' I'm going to Woodford Green,' I said to the conductor as I got on the bus,' but I don't know where it is.' ' I'll tell you where to get off,' answered the conductor.
I sat in the front of the bus to get a good view of the countryside. After some time, the bus stopped. Looking round, I realized with a shock that I was the only passenger left on the bus.
' You'll have to get off here,' the conductor said. 'This is as far as we go.' ' Is this Woodford Green ?' I asked. 'Oh dear,' said the conductor suddenly.' I forgot to put you off.' 'It doesn't matter,' I said. 'I'll get off here.' 'We are going back now,' said the conductor. 'Well, in that case, I prefer to stay on the bus,' I answered.

From The Author's View:
I am interested in travelling and I often have a trip on weekends. I have lost my ways many times and the most recent one is an excursion to Woodford Green last Saturday. When I got on the bus, I told the conductor that I want to go to Woodford Green but I did not where it is. The conductor answered me that she would put me off if we arrived there. Then I took a good seat in the front of the bus so that I was able to enjoy the beautiful view of the countryside. A long time later, the bus stopped and I found that I was the only passenger in the bus. The conductor told me to get off because there was the terminal of the bus. It seemed that the conductor had forgot to put me off. Because the bus was going back so I stayed on the bus and arrived at the Woodford Green at last. I was annoyed that it took two hours longer than I expected.
Knowledges
From The Conductor's View:
I am a conductor on a bus to and fro between downtown and suburb. Last Saturday, a young man got on the bus and said he was going to Woodford Green but he did not where to get off. I told him that I would put him off where we arrived. As many passengers got on and got off, I had dismissed this from my mind. When we reached the bus terminal, I told him to get off because there was as far as went. I didn't realized he was going to Woodford until he asked whether we were at the Woodford Green. I felt sorry to him and told him that we were going back and he stayed on the bus. This time, I never forgot to put him off.
