PPT may be a distraction

        1. 1 point of focus in the classroom becomes 2 points!!!!!

                students may be more drawn to the screen than you

                ----------> tell the students when to look at the ppt and when to look at you [use the mute bottom to mute the ppt screen]

        2. provoke sleeplessness

            [so the contents on the slides must be fun / attractive / controversial / thought provoking / generating discussion ........ ]

            [but never use gimmicky options] 

        3. never read from the ppt -- never turn your back to the audience

            [let it enhance the lecture, but never replace you/duplicate what you're saying!!!!!!!!]

        4. only use to show pics  /  make really important points that you have to make it with a slide [make it simple: one word per slide may even work]

        5. ppt is the work already done. But writing on the blackboard shows the process of working being done, like a scientist finding solutions to a problem or conducting an experiment. So writing on the blackboard and showing the slides are different.

Send the ppt to the students

        1. But the students should also be in class to get to know the majority of information. The ppt doesn't carry the whole course to the students.

            [so we should limit the words on the ppt, but put some context images...]

        1. use ppt to show the outline of the lecture

                [inform the students of where we are in the lecture]

Be able to teach without ppt

        1. technical failure

        2. nothing can replace a lecturer
