林语堂先生出于对苏的极度喜爱，并且非常了解苏，才有了此书。向全世界展示了一个非常伟大的中国诗人。也让我们了解苏的同时，了解了苏的所处的整个时代。

林说苏东坡最快乐就是写作之时。其实，能为自己非常喜欢的人物写传记，不是也是最快乐的事吗？

林语堂也是我非常喜欢的一个大文豪，不得不佩服他的博学。期待后续的文章。学点英文，顺便读读苏的诗。

1.Profusion

原文：Tu Fu was like Milton, a devout philosopher and a good old man,writing in a profusion of apt, learned, and archaic metaphors.

译：noun, a very large quantity of sth 大量，众多

同义词：abundance，richness

仿：a profusion of colors 色彩斑斓

Hundreds of flowers are blooming in profusion. 百花怒放。

2.rapacious 

原文：Readers of All Men Are Brothers are acquainted with the quality of this misrule when good,honest men, in order to avoid tax-gatherers or evade the "justice"of rapacious officials, one by one took to the woods and became the much-beloved forest heroes of that novel.

译：adj. wanting more money or goods than you need 贪婪的；

仿： Rapacious developer soon bought up the land.

3.Vile [vaɪl]

原文：When a cause becomes holy , the means used to achieve it inevitably becomes vile.

译：adj. extremely bad 极坏的

仿：a vile smell 极其恶心的味道

He was in a vile mood.
