[时态]写论文时时态的使用

• 难就难在时态的切换
• 比如下面这个例子，twisted是唯一一个发生在过去的动作，因此使用过去时态，如果使用 twists那么会扰乱叙述的时序性。

Mrs. Mallory sees her returning son and, in her excitement, twisted
her ankle rather badly. Her sister calls the doctor immediately.

• 在下面的例子中wrote和lived都是引用Dillard的生活都是发生在过去，而不是他的著作里面，contends是叙述Dillard的著作，因此使用现在时态，这种现象叫做literary present意思是文学现在时，因此要牢记write about lilterature in present tense 这表示现在你正在阅读和思考你所写的东西， 每次看书的时候现在时让你感觉一切正在发生，读论文的时候现在时态让你感觉你正在和作者对话。

Annie Dillard wrote Pilgrim at Tinker Creek when she lived in 
Virginia's mountains. In the book's chapter, "Seeing," Annie Dillard 
contends that "vision... is a deliberate gift, the revelation of a dancer
who for my eyes only flings away her seven veils" 

• 对于大多数的描述，论证性，说明性的论文，全文使用现在时态，仅当在历史背景中提及过去的事件或作者的想法，使用过去时。
• 使用时态的时候也是一样的在一篇文章中使用一种时态，仅仅当需要表示时间的转移和一些戏剧性的目的的时候才进行时态的改变。
• 比如下面的例子，thought是过去的动作，但是想的什么就要用现在时态表示作者当时的所想，在这个例子中，只表示这个动作发生在过去才用过去时态。

are familiar with neural network only at a basic level and 
is therefore, wondering about activation functions and
