2022-06-13 Meditate Throughout T
Besides setting aside specific times to focus on only meditation, you can also make any other activity into a meditation. Driving your car: shush every thought but the road. Writing: nothing exists but the flow of words. At a party: infinite peace still exists within while flailing to EDM.
The calm and focus that meditation gives will naturally spill over into times when you’re not actively meditating. I was at Wal-Mart the other day after a particularly good meditation session, not thinking about it at all, and I was suddenly struck by the beauty of light on an apple I was grabbing. It was weird, but awesome.
But you can also make meditation a way of life. Can you be fully present the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep? The path there begins with filling the little pockets of your day where nothing is happening with the decision to focus.
It can be something as small as hushing your thoughts and just breathing for 10 seconds or so at a time, or deciding you will be fully present at least while you wash the dishes.
