Count: to be important or valuable = matter

例句:

1)How you learn it counts more than how much you learn.

2)Details count.

3)First impressions count.

What counts the most is not X, but Y.”

1)What counts the most is not how rich you are, but how you treat wealth.

2)When it is a question of putting one person before another in positions of public responsibility, what counts is not membership of a particular class, but the actual ability which the man possesses.

It’s not what happened happens to you but how you react to it that counts/matters.

How you respond to it counts/matters more than what happened.

What counts/matters the most is not how many books you have bought, but how many you have read.

How you apply the knowledge counts/matters more than how much you have gained/acquired.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.                                  —Winston S. Churchill

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.
