15. stop to do sth.停下来去做某事;

      stop doing sth.停止现在做的事情。

  e.g. Tom stops doing homework to watch TV.

16. be afraid to do sth. = be afraid of doing sth.害怕做某事

  e.g. Tom is afraid to answer the questions in front of the class.

          I’m afraid of staying at home alone in the evening.

17. between…and … 意为“在……和……之间”，通常指两者之间；

among意为“在……之间”，通常指三者或三者以上之间。

  e.g. The restaurant is between the supermarket and the bookstore.

          There are many flowers among trees.

18. through, over和across表“通过”时辨析:

(1) through从内部通过；

e.g. Tom entered the room through the window.

        The train runs through the mountain.

(2) over从空中越过;

e.g. I threw the basketball over the river.

(3) across从表面通过；

e.g. We go to school across the street every day.

  (4) across, cross与crossing的区别：

      across意为“通过”，为介词；

      cross意为“通过”，为实义动词；

      crossing意为“十字路口”，为名词。

      e.g.Tom usually goes to school across the street.

            Tom crosses the street to the school.

            There are three crossings on the street.

19. there be句型与have的区别：

(1) there be表示“某地存在某物”，不表所属关系（就近原则）；

(2) have表示“某人拥有某物”，表所属关系。

e.g. I have many books.

      There are many apples in the room.

      She has a basketball.

        There is a foreign student in our class.

20. few, a few与little, a little的用法辨析：

(1) few与a few是一对反义词，a few意为“几个”，表肯定，few意为“几乎没有”，表否定。均修饰可数名词复数。

(2) little与a little是一对反义词，a little意为“少许，有一些”，表肯定，little意为“几乎没有”，表否定。均修饰不可数名词。

e.g. Few people know the city.

      A few people know the city.

      I have a little free time.

      I have little free time.
