Book Two Unit Eighty-eight
Six men have been trapped in a mine for seventeen hours. Unless rescue workers are
trying to get them out soon, they may lose their lives. However, rescue operations does not work well. It has been found that the use of explosives will cause the roof of the
mine to collapes. What is more, rescue workers finds it more diffcult to drill through the hard layer of rock beneath the soil. Meanwhile, a microphone, which was lowered into
the mine two hours ago, has enabled the men to keep in touch with their closest
relatives. Though they are running out of food and drink, the men do not lose
confidence in rescue operations as they have been told that they will be brought to the surface soon. If they knew how arduous it was to drill through the hard rock, they would lose heart.
