「英语二三事」 -- 纹身

简介

纹身（tattoo）俗称刺青，指用带墨（ink）、色素（pigment）或染料（dye）的针（needle）刺入皮肤而制造出不同的图案（patterns）或文字（words or characters）。这是一种身体改造（body modification）行为（另一种行为是穿孔 piercing）。

类型

暂时性纹身（temporary tattoos）

又称一次性纹身，图案（patterns）于数天或数周后自动消失，一般可用外用酒精（rubbing alcohol）或婴儿润肤油（baby oil）去除纹身（remove the tattoos）。

1. 贴纸类暂时性纹身（decal-style/ press-on temporary tattoos）

2. 金属风珠宝类纹身（metallic jewelry tattoos）：使用烫金技术（foil stamping technique）

4. 印度海娜纹身（Henna temporary tattoos）

其中，海娜是一种从植物中萃取出的物质（a plant-derived substance），还可被用于染发，染指甲和织物（to dye skin，fingernails and fabrics）。海娜染料（dye）只是绘在皮肤上（paint on the skin），而非刺上去，通常可持续数天或数星期。即便如此，英国国家服务系统（National Health Service）曾在官网警告，一些黑色海娜含有添加剂（contain additives），会对身体造成化学烧伤（chemical burns）等严重的损害。

洗纹身的方法有很多，如通过化学腐蚀、手术切除、以及通过中药或激光祛纹身（laser tattoo removal techniques）。目前，相对而言，最有效的手段是激光去纹身。去纹身时会伴有疼痛（pain）。

人的皮肤表层（skin layer）主要包括最外层的表皮层（epidermis – the top layers of the skin）、真皮层（dermis – the second layer of skin）和皮下组织(subcutaneous fat)三层。其中，鉴于（given that…/ in view that/ in consideration that）表皮会由于新陈代谢（metabolism）而脱落(flake off)，所以必须将色素染料刺入真皮及皮下组织中以保持颜色，从而对人体造成伤害，轻则如感染（infection）或过敏（allergic reactions），重则可能造成烧伤（burns）甚至死亡。

危害

如果之前没有接触过纹身（be new to tattooing/ know little about）且一定要纹身的话，行动之前需要先了解一下自己的皮肤特性（skin characteristics），确定自己是否是疤痕体质，不要贪图便宜（do it on the cheap），一定要慎重选择（choose wisely and deliberately），去正规的纹身店（tattoo shops），找专业纹身师操作。
