several thought-provoking quotes
Winter holiday officially begins today. What is interesting about time management is when I am busy, I believe I could achieve more if I have more time. While when I do have free time, I basically achieve nothing. I lie flat, stay up late, watch TV, shop online, hang out with kids, etc. The last thing I would like to do is work~
Yesterday I started watching an online course by Yang Tianzhen about emotional intelligence. Just two short episodes have brought me quite a lot of thinking. Yang mentioned:
Emotional intelligence means to first meet your own needs, love your self and respect your own feelings, then help others succeed.
Her definition goes against the common beliefs that emotional intelligence means one tries hard to make others happy and it definitely updated my understanding of EQ as well.
Another impressive point she mentioned is that
there are no advantages or disadvantages but traits. One certain advantage can be favorable in certain scenario but it can be unfavorable in other scenarios.
Therefore, an emotional intelligent person is able to make the best of his or her own personality traits in the right situation. She also suggested some ways to distinguish our own personality traits--start from the most unforgettable experience in your life. List all the impressive experiences and analyze them one by one, and gradually, your personality traits would emerge.
I would like to try this method in the following days to find out my personality traits. However, looking back to one's history can be painful as there were plenty of embarrassing moments and problems that could have been solved better. It feels like to peek into a keyhole, one may feel uncomfortable or restless.
Another quote is by Li Qian from Tictok:
We always tell ourselves that life would be better in the future. In fact, future will not be better if we cannot live each day to the fullest. Future is led to us by every present moments we enjoy. Only by living each "today" well, can we have the possibility to enjoy a good future. So try your best to live a high quality life each day, and this is the most important.
No one is your personal belonging, including your children and husband. So, try to make your relationship, your interaction with them endearing memories in the future.
I need to digest the above wisdom, otherwise it may slip away~
