200323《Marva Collins' Way》05

今天看chapter4-5，主要讲Marva离开家乡到芝加哥结婚生子，在Delano小学开始教学工作的情况。

Marva在小学工作受到同事的排挤鼓励，只因为她“教的太好”。在这种拉扯中，她还是用自己的方法来教学生。

很意外的看到她对look-say teachng（就是学生通过大量看图来识字，比如现在很流行的sight words）的批评，她重视发音，推崇phonetics，教学生元音、辅音发音规则后能够独立阅读。她不把学生当成“无能”的小孩子，她批评教材设置的不够real、太无聊，也难怪不能激发学生的兴趣。二年级的课堂上学生都能理解巴甫洛夫的实验！

Marva老师有种魔力，她总是能夸奖每个学生，她能把任何事情都和学习联系在一起。

今天看书的时候想到了两岁的小侄子，有时候真的很惊讶他这么小就这么“聪明、搞笑”，而我们在学校学的东西是不是难度有点低呢。把孩子当成“小大人”，他也会积极思考。

Nothing was irrelevant if it couldbe used to pique a child’s intellectual curiosity. 

Marva had guessed the story of Pavlov’s dog would find itsway into the lesson. That was her method, to pool as much information aspossible, to bombard the children with names and facts and anecdotes they coulddraw upon later. Of course the children wouldn’t remember everything. Exposure to knowledge was what mattered. Some of it would sink in.
