译《小王子》：第十二章 酒鬼先生

The next planet was inhabited by a tippler. 

This was a very short visit, but it plunged the little prince into deep dejection.

"What are you doing there?" he said to the tippler, whom he found settled down in silence before a collection of empty bottles and also a collection of full bottles.

接下来的这个星球，上面住着一位酒鬼先生。

虽然这次小王子来去匆匆，但就是这样短暂的逗留足以令他黯然神伤。

小王子看见酒鬼一声不吭地呆坐着，面前摆放着一些酒瓶子，有的空着，有的满着。他开口问道：“您在做什么呢？”

酒鬼先生

"I am drinking," replied the tippler, with a lugubrious air.

"Why are you drinking?" demanded the little prince.

"So that I may forget," replied the tippler.

"Forget what?" inquired the little prince, who already was sorry for him.

"Forget that I am ashamed," the tippler confessed, hanging his head.

“我正在喝酒。”酒鬼愁眉不展地回应着。

“为什么要喝酒呢？”小王子追问道。

“喝酒自然是为了忘却。”酒鬼答道。

“忘掉什么？”小王子继续询问，他已经对酒鬼心生怜悯之情。

“忘记一些让我感到惭愧的事。”酒鬼耷拉着脑袋忏悔道。

"Ashamed of what?" insisted the little prince, who wanted to help him.

"Ashamed of drinking!" The tippler brought his speech to an end, and shut himself up in an impregnable silence.

And the little prince went away, puzzled.

"The grown-ups are certainly very, very odd," he said to himself, as he continued on his journey.

小王子想对酒鬼先生伸出援助之手，于是继续刨根问底，“有什么事情让您感到惭愧呢？”

“喝酒让我感到惭愧。”酒鬼说完之后便不再搭话，又开始闷闷不乐起来。

而小王子只好一脸茫然地离开了。

“大人们实在是太古怪了！”他再一次自言自语道，继续开始自己的旅程。
