《跟希腊众神学英语》笔记3

下面是一些我们耳熟能详的神话故事有关的：

1. Achilles' heel

人物

Agamemnon a king of Mycenae and leader of the Greekss in the Trojan War, the brother of Menelaus

Menelaus a king of Sparta (husband of Helen)

Odysseus: a king of Ithaca and Greek leader in the Trojan War who after the war wanders 10 years before reaching home. Odysseus the Cunning renowned for his brilliance, guile, and versatility

Paris : a Trojan prince who abducted Helen from Sparta which lead to the 10-year Trojan War. Brother of Hecto

Hecto: a Trojan prince and one of the greatest fighters in the Trojan War

Achilles: the greatest warrior among the Greeks at Troy and slayer of Hector

四大冥河

Styx 怒河，守誓河

Acheron 苑河，苦恼河

Cocytus 悲河，悲叹河

Phlegethon 火河

Achilles' Mother have dipped him in the River Styx, he is invincible now. But she held Achilles his heel when she dipped you in the river, so Achilles' heel is the weakest point.

2.The Trojan Horse

Epeius: The man who built the Trojan Horse

Sinon: Greek Solider

Trojan horse is not actually a horse, but something to deceive other people. Gradually people use this phrase to describe ‘the hidden danger’ or ‘the covert wreckers’.

Wreckers refer to people who deliberately commit sabotage(to do the bad things).

Eg. The superpowers are always sending the Trojan horses to many countries in the world.

另外一些例如Penelope’s web， Win Laurels， Narcissism 等等也都有自己的传说，跟众神的爱恨情仇有关。
