Become friends with God

The Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do.” ----Genesis18:17

It is joyous to become friends with God. The chapter speaks of the real joy of being with God. It is different to get the joy occasionally when we pray with God’s presence. If we are close with God, do not ask him to show us his heart. In this way, our confidence life enters the stage of growth. When we can keep a normal relationship with God, our life is free and happy. We are God’s will, and all decisions we make by the reason are his will on us, unless God specifically resists it. We have a good and pleasant friendship with God and we can decide everything, because he will always stop our wrong decisions. As soon as he stops, we should stop.

It is difficult to become friends with God. Why did Abraham stop the prayer? He was not close enough to God yet, so he did not move forward until God gave him his permission. His relationship with God still needs to be improved. If we stop short in prayer and say, “well, I’m not sure, maybe it wasn’t God’s will.” So, we have another stage to go through. We don’t know God as deeply as Jesus did, nor as well as he wants us to---“Make them be one, as we are one.”

Let us think about the last prayer. Focus on our own needs? Or God? Is it to insist on receiving some gift of the holy spirit? Or to see the face of God? “Your Father knows what you need before you ask for it.” Therefore, the purpose of the prayer is to make us know God better. Delight ourselves in the Lord, and God will give us the desires of our heart. Pray continually to get a full understanding of God.

Dear God, may you care the temple day and night. May you keep and guard it from all that is contrary to your will, and make each of us become the person whom you desire in your heart.
