The extinction of Anasazi
The reading claims that nearly 1550, the Anasazi abruptly extinct only centuries later, and many historians were ascribed to their extinction to the war. The lecturer, meanwhile, stats that many archaeologists found that Anasazi disappeared only because of water shortage.
First of all, the reading declares that one of the reason is that there are a large number of places which were burned. It suggested that Anasazi experienced war, because many American Indian tribes would burned down their settlements after being defeated in the war. The lecturer, however, points out that they were having a ceremony to the god because of the water shortage. He thinks that they were lack of water, so they held a ceremony, but unfortunately, they destroyed it or burned it down.
Second, the professor claims that there are large amount of jewelry, diamond, something like personal articles were left, that showed they ran away and left them behind. The listening, on the other hand, makes the argument that the Anasazis only want water, no need for the personal articles, so they left them.
Finally, although the reading mentions that there was also a geographical aspect of the Anasazi, but the professor firmly states that it was the golden age of the population. According to him, their population rose because of it was golden age, so they extremely needed water at that time while there were no more water.
In conclusion, the professor convinced that war is the main reason that Anasazi disappeared, but the lecturer thought that water shortage was one of the important problem.
