Sonnet 23: My mistress' eyes

Oft I have gazed upon the dome of night,

I ne’er beheld the darkest eth’real orbs.

Some stars on earth did too attract my sight

with fatal force that all the light absorbs.

The closer to those black spheres I was drawn

the slower time from my grasp slipped away.

Beyond th’horizon, from my furture’s dawn,

yet never came th’illuminating ray

of hope. In your obsidian holes I drowned

at last. My dreams were crushed before I’m dead.

What’s left of me a soulless mass one found

with mind electrified and spinning head.

I shan’t retrieve what’s lost in you in vain

since part of me with you for eons reign.
