        When I read Van Gogh at first time, I’m really shocked by this famous artist. Now let me tell you the reason. Before we say something of this artist, can you tell me what you know of him. Van Gogh was an artist. He was a foreigner. He was famous for the painting-‘ Vase with fifteen Sunflowers’. Yeah, and do you want to know more about him? OK, Van Gogh’s story starts.

        Van Gogh was born in 1853 in a small village in Holland. His father was a minister and a stubborn man. But his mother was a capable and hard-working lady. She was good at painting, sewing and writing. Van Gogh was the eldest son in the family. He had three sisters and two brothers. One of his brother Theo had a good relationship with him. Because Theo helped him a lot in his hard lives.

        Van Gogh began to paint at four years old. He liked painting very much. He was poor when he was young. Sometimes he had the problem to choose the food or the paint when he was very hungry. And he chose the paint in the end. He died in the year 1890. He was only 37. But he painted nearly one thousand eighty pictures. That’s amazing.

        At the beginning of painting, he copied from some famous artist’s pictures. Later, he studied painting further and had his own idea. He loved yellow very much. Some paintings even dried in two weeks. I think the artist had uncommon will so that he could insist on and painted very famous pictures. Unfortunately, his paintings were not recognized as success. After he died many years, some of his paintings became valuable. And unbelievable there are only six paintings left in the world.

    At the late years of his life, he got very illness. He was so painful that he cut off one of his ears one day. The he was sent to hospital immediately. After he recovered, he drew a picture for it. Ha was really a crazy man.

        From Van Gogh’s story, what can we learn from him? If you enjoy something, you should insist on it. Never say ‘give up’ and you will be successful one day.
