第三：“How can that be？”   

“那怎么可能呢？”

can 用在疑问句中表示说话人的“怀疑”，例如：

where can he be？他会在什么地方呢？

Can the news be true？这消息能是真的吗？

第四：“Which eye is he blind in？”

“这匹马哪只眼瞎了？”

blind的意思是unable to see，所说明的需要是人或动物。例如：

She is blind in the left eye。她左眼瞎了。

第五：The peasant uncovered the horse's left eye and people saw it was clear and shinin-g。农民放开马的左眼，人们看见这只眼睛晶莹明亮。

动词uncover由前缀un-加cover构成，前缀un-加在动词前仍然构成动词，表示做“相反的动作”。例如：

to dress

to undress脱衣服。

To load

to unload卸货。

To lock

to unlock开锁。

un-加在形容词前，表示“不”、“无”、“非”的意思。例如：

Happy

unhappy，不高兴的

healthy

unhealthy不健康的。

adapted

unadapted 未经改写的。

第六：I meant to see the right eye，我的意思是说他的右眼瞎。

meant todo“有意要做”。句中用过去时态，表示“本来想说，但是没有说”。

第七，It's not blind in either eye. 它两只眼睛一点也不瞎。

either的意思是两者当中的任一个，例如：

I have two dictionaries ， you can useeither one。我有两本词典，你可以用任意一本。

而both表示“两者都”，例如：

Both dictionaries are good ，you can take them.两本词典都很不错----
