Secret Love

I hid my love when young while I

年轻时的我，将自己的爱隐藏，

Couldn' t bear the buzzing of a fly;

无法忍受苍蝇的嗡嗡声；

I hid my love to my despite

我把爱隐藏起来，

Till I could not bear to look at light:

直到我连光明也无法正视；

I dare not gaze upon her face

我不敢凝视她的脸庞，

But left her memory in each place;

而把对她的思念留在每个地方；

Where' er I saw a wild flower lie

只要我看到一朵野花，

I kissed and bade my love good-bye.

便会留下我的吻，亲切告别。

I met her in the greenest dells,

我和她在幽谷的最深处相遇，

Where dewdrops pearl the wood bluebells;

浆果上布满了露珠儿；

The lost breeze kissed her bright blue eye,

微风轻拂着她明亮的蓝色眼睛，

The bee kissed and went singing by,

蜜蜂亲吻着，唱着歌儿离去，

A sunbeam found a passage there,

一束阳光在那儿找到了出口，

A gold chain round her neck so fair;

金色的光环围绕在她的颈部，那么美丽，

As secret as the wild bee' s song

就像野蜂的歌儿那样神秘，

She lay there all the summer long.

她在那儿躺了一个夏天。

I hid my love in field and town

我将爱情藏于原野和城镇，

Till e' en the breeze would knock me down;

以至于一阵风儿都能把我吹倒；

The bees seemed singing ballads o' er,

蜜蜂都唱起了歌儿，

The fly' s buss turned a lion' s roar;

苍蝇的亲吻压住了狮子的怒吼；

And even silence found a tongue,

甚至沉默都找到了语言；

To haunt me all the summer long;

萦绕我整个夏天，

The riddle nature could not prove

大自然都无法探明的秘密，

Was nothing else but secret love.

不是别的，就是秘密的爱恋。
