Summary:

习惯六“统合综效”(synergy),说的是整体大于部分之和,即1+1>2,是前面五个习惯的集中体现。统合综效的精髓就是判断和尊重差异,取长补短,可以很广泛的运用于学校课堂,商业领域以及日常生活中。

基于不同层次的信任度(trust)和合作性(cooperation),我们日常的沟通有3种效果:

Words and Expressions:#

It catalyzes, unifies, and unleashes the greatest powers within people.

unleash, vt, 1) to allow or cause (something very powerful) to happen suddenly, 把(感情、力量等)释放出来, 发泄; 2) to remove a leash from (an animal) so that it can freely run, attack someone, etc. 解开…的皮带;解除…的束缚;
e.g. unleash the dog.
e.g. All the feeling of her guilt was unleashed when she saw her father in white hair.

They often seem ambiguous, hit-or-miss, trial and error.

hit-or-miss, adj, [ also hit-and-miss] done in a way that is not planned or organized → random, 无计划的,无目的的,遇事现打主意的;
e.g. His parents always scolds him for treating everything with a hit-or-miss attitude.

As a teacher, I have come to believe that many truly great classes teeter on the very edge of chaos.

teeter, vi, to stand or walk moving from side to side, as if you are going to fall, 摇晃地站立或移动;

teeter-totter 跷跷板; also known as a teeterboard or seesaw, is a long, narrow board supported by a single pivot point, most commonly located at the midpoint between both "ends"; as one end goes up, the other goes down.

be teetering on the edge/brink of something, to be very close to being in an unpleasant or dangerous situation. 处在(灾难或危险的)边缘;濒临
e.g. Her emotion is teetering on the edge of collapse.

The entire class is transformed with the excitement of a new thrust, a new idea, a new direction that’s hard to define, yet it’s almost palpable to the people involved.

palpable, adj, [ formal ] 1) a feeling that is palpable is so strong that other people notice it and can feel it around them; [ OPP: impalpable ] 可触知的, 摸得出的; 明显的;明白的; 2) [only before noun] complete.
e.g. She felt a palpable sense of loss when she saw off her parents.

It wasn’t just a flight of fancy; there was a sense of maturity and stability and substance which transcended by far the old structure and plan.

flight of fancy, also flight of imagination/fantasy: an idea, story, etc., that shows great imagination but is very unlikely to be true or practical. 奇想,异想天开,想入非非;
e.g. What's your latest flight of fancy?

The mission statement agenda gave way to a collective free association, a spontaneous piggybacking of ideas.
