A Visit at the APIS

Today, I visited the APIS and write a text there. This school is high in the mountain so we take the taxi for one hour. After a long ride, we finely see the large courtyard of the school. It was green with plants, mostly palm trees. The trees have thick leaves, as well as the bushes. There are not many animals in this school.

I meet a Chinese teacher who lead me to a room. There, a friendly teacher help me get ready for the text. The text is on the computer. There are two stages of the text. One is the WIDA horizontal test, the second is the MAP text. The WIDA text includes a language text, a listening text, a writing text, and a reading text. The MAP text includes a reading text and a maths text. I can take notes during the text, but I have to write my answer on the computer.

For the language text, I should look at pictures and present it’s substance to the teacher. Next is the listening text. I listened to the record in the computer and answer questions. It was not hard. All I have to do is to listen carefully. After that, came the reading and writing text. I did well with the reading text, but the writing text is harder. I must write my opinions and give as much information as I can. My vocabulary is not so good, but I still pass the text.

The MAP text is a challenge for me because it compare me to other children at my age. If I answer the questions well, the text will get harder until I cannot understand it anymore.

The text includes math equations,    astronomers, geography, history, and other things I have not learn yet. But I still pass it. After the text, I meet the school principal.

The principal is a kind person. Unlike China, he is amiable just like a regular teacher. He talks to me, asked me about my school and my friends. I learn about the APIS from him.

After meeting the principal, I look around the school. There is a swimming pool, a football field, and a lot of other recreation facilities. The buildings are tall and brand new. The school is beautiful, but there are not many students around. Most students I saw are Chinese and Thai. There are almost no Americans or British. This place is kind of lonely, maybe because of the mountains.

A Visit at the APIS

As a Chinese, I know from this text that I should read more books and write more. This school is good, but I don’t think I can live in this deep mountain as a twelve-year-old right now. If others also want to take this kind of text, I hope this paragraph I write can help.
