Initial application check
We check your application to see if you meet the standard entry requirements for the course. If you do, you will be invited to submit a mini portfolio through UAL’s online portfolio review system.

Mini portfolio
The mini portfolio should be no more than 10 pages comprising of your best work showing your skills and thinking. You can create the pages in any layout (For example: presentation boards) but they should be uploaded as jpeg images. It should include:
Three pages of research images for fashion design, using a range of materials (drawings, notes, photographs, images of items that you find inspirational for fashion design)
Three pages of fashion design sketches (sketches demonstrating your development of a fashion theme)
Two pages of finished fashion illustrations (using colour and demonstrating your skills of presentation, these could be hand-drawn, painted, collage or computer images)
Two pages of any other creative work. We leave the decision of what to include to you.
Following the review of the mini portfolio we select a small number of applicants to move on to the next stage of the process. These applicants will be invited to a full portfolio review.

Full portfolio review
On the review day, we will first ask you to drop off your portfolio for review. After this we may conduct short individual interviews in order to clarify aspects of your application or your work.
If you are unable to attend in person, you can submit a full portfolio online and we may interview you by Skype.
Please note that we do not accept portfolios by post.

Portfolio advice
Your portfolio should demonstrate creative development, whether for a college project or in your personal work. By creative development, we mean ideas that have originated through your own experience and research and progressed towards potential visual and three-dimensional proposals. We are interested in seeing your ideas, visual research and experimentation and finished design solutions. It is important that the creative work you include reflects and demonstrates your thinking, initiative and personal commitment to a particular project, theme or idea.

The quality of the work is more important than the quantity
Where possible, large or 3D work should be photographed and scanned
Please organise your work by project, with supporting work presented alongside final outcomes.
How we notify you of the outcome of your application
You will receive the final outcome of your application through UCAS track.

课程描述
本课程包括针织，印染，机织三个方向。纺织品设计是时装业的基础。针织、印染、编织这三种工艺的纵向开发以及他们之间的相互交融孕育了无穷无尽的创造空间。纤维、色彩、图案的灵活运用将为我们织造出一个绚丽多彩的世界。
课程还提供了互补性学习的讲习班，如表面处理，设计媒介和制作工艺等。在第一年中，学生将要学习两个或三个这样的专业领域，逐步学习确定哪个是最适合于自己的。在第二年的开始，学生将要决定要深入研究的方向。

Print and Dye
Print and Dye
This is primarily a fabric screen printing and dyeing workshop. We have about 55 meters of print table space, a substantial number of dye vats, and a heat press workshop for sublimation printing.
Primary users are fashion and textiles students, we can try and accommodate other students if time and circumstances allow it.
We have silk screens of all sizes, and a dark room with two exposure units, allowing large scale screen exposure.
The heat press workshop also contains a rotary press for large scale sublimation printing. We link up with the digital 4D department, who are able to help our students prepare art work for screens and sublimation prints,
Our dye and finishing workshop also contains equipment for large scale fabric dyeing, steaming, baking and laundering, all part of the print and dye process. Weave and knitwear students also make use of the dye facilities.

Knit
Our knit (constructed textiles) workshop is a specialist workshop for the fashion and textile programmes.
It's also an open access workshop once students have received an induction and training on the specialist machinery. The workshop is divided into several distinct zones with different specialist machinery in each area.
