8. Learn through personal experi
Today, we had a talk about the way in which we prefer to learn through personal experience or get advice from friends and family.
In Bernda's opinions, she prefers getting advice from her friends and family. There are some reasons accounting for it.
First, she believed that everyone has inertial thinking, which can let us make decision with less consideration and sometimes may not be able to think of some important details we ignore. While if we ask for advice from other people, they may probably give us some special perspectives.
Second, she thought that learning from others' experiences can rich our thoughts because they have experiences different from us.
Third, she considered it as an opportunity to contract with our closed friends and family, which can strengthen the relationship between these people and us.
However, it is also important for her to learn through personal experience, because she thought it can help her learn how to solve the problems by herself.
As for me, when I have a problem, I almost like to learn from my personal experience to get the ideas. Here are two reasons used to interpret it.
First, I believe that nobody can know us better than ourselves. When we solve a problem, we should better base on the real situation we are in, and it helps us to find out the solution as much suitableness as possible. Although other people, like our friends and family, may have experienced the similar situation, the advice from them might also be not suitable for us because of the different personalities we have.
For example, I think almost everyone will face the same problem that what kind of jobs we should choose. Some people may prefer the jobs with less competition but stable, while some will prefer the jobs with more challenge but competitive. When we talk with our parents about this problem, they will probably suggest us to take the stable one, and it makes them feel more secure about our future. But for me, I hope I can meet more opportunities, and I believe that the more challenges there are, the more opportunities there will be.
Second, I think that the knowledge learning from our personal experience will impress us more than given by others because we have thought the problem with deeper thinking, which can also help us to link the knowledge to other knowledge points we've learned before.
For example, I had ever got into trouble that I didn't know how to write an English article in less time than I had spent. Sometimes it cost me for almost 2 hours to write a short article, just about 300 words. So I tried to find out where my time was going. By analyzing my writing process, I found that I had spent a lot of time in searching dictionary while writing. It sometimes interrupted my thought process and I may forget what I wanted to write.Therefore, I had to pay more time to recall them. "What should I do to deal with it? ” I thought. Suddenly a thought rushed into my mind that I could finish my article without searching dictionary for the first time, so that I could reduce the interruption caused by it. And then when I finished my article, I could check spelling and grammar and make some improvements. Actually, the idea isn't a new point, because I had a similar experience before. I wanted to know where my money was going, but I found that bookkeeping was very time-consuming. But I finally solved this problem, by reducing the number of bookkeeping, only just once at the end of a day. So I got the idea by learning through the similar experience . And it made me understand the knowledge better and impress me more. I think if I get advice from other people, I could only solve the current problem.
However, sometimes I will also ask for some advice from other people, when I really don't know what to do, or some of them once succeeded in solving this problem. But as I have mentioned before, no one can know us better than ourselves. We should be responsible for the possible misdirection from others. I think we can listen to others' advice but should also be cautious about it.
