tell

1. 完美破解汉语中的“让人吃不消”

These late nights are really beginning to tell on me. 熬了这么多夜，我有点吃不消了。

2. tell sb off (for sth/ doing sth)  责备；斥责，对应汉语中的“训斥”“训一顿”

I told the boys off for making so much noise.孩子们太吵，我把他们训了一顿。
