1, ramification

I was nineteen, maybe twenty, not thinking about any of the ramifications of this.

PART 3 - Thoughts

“We’ve caught your son shoplifting batteries,” he said. “You need to come and fetch him.”

“No,” she said. “Take him to jail. If he’s going to disobey he needs to learn the consequences.”

在偷电池这件事情上，作者的母亲并没有打算帮作者“买单”，甚至于给作者一种不管出什么事情母亲都不会再帮他，也正如后面写道，I was a man. I could go it alone. 找朋友帮忙，经历一番到家之后也装作若无其事的样子。但是真的如此吗？

“If I don’t punish you, the world will punish you even worse. The world doesn’t love you. If the police get you, the police don’t love you. When I beat you, I’m trying to save you. When they beat you, they’re trying to kill you.”

最后还是作者的母亲帮作者搞定了，让作者可以回家。可以讲父母刀子嘴豆腐心，但更多情况正如作者母亲第一次所言，孩子要学会承担自己行为的后果。

这一段是在描述Hulk，相比于父母的tough love, 在人生的每一个必经阶段都没有人教你对与错，是与非，甚至什么是值钱的东西都无从辨别不是更可惜吗？

作者的这一段经历，遇到的人，应该会理解作者的母亲讲的“环境的力量”，近朱者赤，近墨者黑的意思了吧，有些东西要经历一遍才会明白有时候，“老人”讲的是对的。
