老外常说的“over the top”(OTT)是什么意思？

That's a bit over the top.

这有点过头了。

OTT＝over the top

over 在..之上，the top最高点，连起来是超过了最高点。

牛津词典对“over the top”是这样定义的：too extreme and not suitable, demanding[diˈmɑ:nd]  too much attention or effort. 意思就是“要求太多，过头了，太夸大”。

外国人在社交聊天中经常输入的OTT也就是在表达：你太夸张了！

例子

The special effects are a bit over the top but I enjoyed it.

特效有点夸张，但是我喜欢。

Sometimes her way of expressing it can be a littleover the top.

这有点太多了。

“a bit much”多用于某种数量超过一定正常的量，东西或事情过多而显得夸张。

例子

I had a bit much to drink. I had a bit of an accident.

That's outrageous.

这真的是不可思议。

outrageous 常形容一些违背常规到行为，而让人觉得反常和夸张到不可思议，难以置信。

例子

不同于上面的四种表达，“That's insane.”一般是遇到或听到一件非常棒的事情，而觉得"太好了；太夸张了"。
