Booths displaying arts and crafts lined either side ofthe street, （街道两旁摆满了艺术品和工艺品）and the air was thick with the scent of hot dogs and burgers, popcorn and cotton candy(空气中充满了浓浓的热狗和汉堡，爆米花和棉花糖的味道). On the mainstage, a local band was playing 'Little Deuce Coupe"by the Beach Boys. There were sack races (套袋赛跑)and a banner (横幅)promising a watermelon-eating contest (吃西瓜比赛)later in the after-noon. Games of chance, too- - -throwing darts at balloons(扔飞镖),tossing rings around bottles(圈圈套瓶子), sinking three shots with abasketball to win a stuffed animal(毛绒玩具). The Ferris wheel （摩天轮）at the far end of the park towered (高耸)above all of it, drawing families like a beacon.
