When forty winters shall besiege thy brow,

And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,

Thy youth's proud livery so gazed on now,

Will be a tottered weed of small worth held:

Then being asked where all thy beauty lies,

Where all the treasure of thy lusty days,

To say within thine own deep-sunken eyes,

Were an all-eating shame and thriftless praise.

How much more praise deserved thy beauty's use,

If thou couldst answer,'This fair child of mine

Shall sum my count,and make my old excuse,'

Proving his beauty by succession thine.

This were to be new made when thou art old,

And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.

当四十个冬天就要来围攻你的额头

将在你那块美丽的田地里

挖出深深的沟渠

你现在，那令多少人倾倒的青春娇颜

将长满荒草，少人问津

那时，当有人问起

你曾经的美貌呢？

你在花样年华所拥有的珍宝呢？

就用你那深陷的双眼回答吗？

恐怕那里

只剩下了贪欲的耻辱

和毫无价值的赞美

还有多少颂词能用来夸赞你的美呢？

但如果你可以这样回答：

“我美丽的孩子

将集合我所有的优点

会成为我老迈的慰藉”

他会用他的美来证明

那是承继于你的美丽

这就是新与旧的更迭

这会让你

当感到你的血在开始变冷的时候

看到它，又再度温暖起来

Sonnet 2 十四行诗第二首

莎士比亚十四行诗大约创作于1590年至1598年之间，其诗作的结构技巧和语言技巧都很高，几乎每首诗都有独立的审美价值。

诗集分为两部分，第一部分为前126首，献给一个年轻的贵族（Fair Lord），诗人的诗热烈地歌颂了这位朋友的美貌以及他们的友情；第二部分为第127首至最后，献给一位“黑女士”（Dark Lady），描写爱情。
