Challenges of studying abroad
Challenges
After the period of ‘honeymoon’ when everything seemed perfect, Ihad to face up to the challenges. For me, the first challenge was the Liverpooldialect ‘Scouse’. Every time when I was fully prepared to communicate withconfidence with local people in restaurant, supermarket, I suspected that theEnglish I learned was ‘fake’. Before I came to the UK, I thought probably allpeople would speak like BBC presenters or the Queen. However, it is not thetruth. The second challenge for me is how to keep the long relationship with mywife in China. She visited my during the Chinese Spring Festival and now she isstaying with me for on her summer vacation, however, during the period of longtime when we were apart, how to keep effectively communicate is a real problem.7 hours difference between the UK and China made it more difficult. When shewas in low mood, and encountered troubles in life, I could do nothing but tomake a video call.
