Zoox is a start-up company in silicon valley that focus on self-driving cars. According to the article, they are going to launch in 2020. That means they are still in the process before launch. Although it’s a mysterious company that hides most of its current information, as they already have the idea of this self-driving car for long time and now hires Mark Rosekind to improve its safety, we may assume that the stage they are in now is development process. They are developing the safety feature of their self-driving car.

The cost that influences decision is that if they can beat their competitors. In the self-driving vehicle area, there are already many big companies such as Google, Uber, Tesla, Toyota in this market. As a start-up, what advantage does it have to compete against those big names. Because this company keeps secret to all its technical information, no one outside the company knows what kind of fancy technology they are adopting. But if they don’t find a unique selling point of their product, maybe they should consider continuing or not.

Benefits that influence decision are that they now have a new expert in safety management in the team. Safety is always the first concern in issues dealing with robots. So is it in self-driving cars. If they grab this point and do the best job on the attribute of safety, they may become the one that most customers trust in. emphasizing safety issues is the culture of their company, which should be carry forward so that more customers know about it. Also, their valuation is rising even if their internal information is kept secret. So we may assume that self-driving car is among the most trending projects in the technologies break throughs these years. Any company that grab this opportunity and follow this trend is expected to gain much more return when it launch in the future. So the advantage is that they are going on the right way and develop in a fast speed. They should continue this development despite those costs that are not that important.
