⑦前面已经有各种代词或数词修饰时。如：

He enjoyed every word of the novel.他喜欢这篇小说的每字每句。

Whose father is the man？那人是谁的父亲？

⑧表示运动、游戏、颜色等的名词前一般不加冠词。如：

They are playing football.他们在踢足球。

I like playing chess with my grandfather.我喜欢与爷爷下象棋。

The girl in blue is Lily.穿蓝色衣服的女孩是莉莉。

⑨表示语言、学科等的名词前不用冠词。如：

He can't speak Chinese well，not to mention English.他汉语都说不好，更不要说英语了。

We have many subjects at school，Chinese，English，math，physics，etc.我们在学校有许多课程：语文、英语、数学、物理等。

⑩表示乘交通工具的名词前不用冠词。如：

He goes to school by bus while I by bicycle.他乘公共汽车上学，而我骑自行车。

It is much more convenient to travel by air than by train.乘飞机旅游比乘火车旅游要方便得多。

⑪对于school，college，hospital，market，prison，sea，work，bed等名词，当为了基本目的而出入这些地方时，前面不加冠词。如：

After breakfast he goes to school（to study）.早饭后他去上学。

He usually comes back from work at six in the evening.他经常晚上6点下班回来。

⑫在使用一些成对的单词和词组前不加冠词。如：side by side肩并肩，

father and son父子，

rich and poor富人和穷人，

hand in hand手拉手，

from north to south从南到北，

light and dark光明与黑暗，

at present当前，

at first首先，

by mistake弄错等。
